Madoka Shibusawa is a freelance writer who married the eldest son of a long-established fan shop in Kyoto and moved there from Tokyo. She wants to capture the life of this 450-year-old, tradition-rich business in a comic essay and is conducting research with her in-laws and local shop owners in the city. However, because she is unfamiliar with Kyoto’s culture, which distinguishes between “true feelings” and “facade,” she ends up upsetting the shop owners. Madoka strives to become a true ambassador for Kyoto, but the situation escalates into an unexpected uproar that sweeps the entire city along with it.
