Futoko

Director Nodoka Yamada, who has been making short films since he was thirteen, has processed his own experience of truancy in "Futoko". He had not attended school since his second year of secondary school. His parents, who thus became more deeply involved with the phenomenon, tried to encourage others in affected families via blog posts to work through and overcome the real reasons behind truancy, which has nothing to do with "playing truant".
