Summary

The four seasons reflect the family life of Haruka and Yoji in Nishikan, Niigata - their youth, the marriage, the daughter seeing the light of day, their life as rice farmers and sake brewers. But in autumn, a shadow falls on the happiness of the small family.

The

Making of

"Harmonica Taiyo" is the sequel to the short film "Nishikan", which was produced in 2016 as a joint public-private project of the Nishikan Ward Office, Niigata City and Musashino Art University. Seiichi Hichikawa's intention was, also by involving the local sake brewery and rice farmers, to bring us closer to Niigata City and its people.
