Born in 1974 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. After working for an advertising production company, Setsuda Tomoichirō became an assistant director. In 2014, he won the ADFEST 2014 Fabulous Four Commendation (highest award) for "A Man". After the award, he joined "nice Inc." as a director. In the same year, the film won the Young Director Award Cannes 2014 Asia Pacific 1st Prize. 2021 Tokyo International Film Festival Amazon Prime Video Take One Award Finalist.
