Yoshiko Yasukawa's fifth grade daughter Hiromi is the target of bullying by her classmates because of her curly hair.
Yoshiko is aware of the bullying, but too busy with running a barber shop to do anything about it.
When Hiromi dies in a purported accidental fall from a cliff, Yoshiko comes to suspect that the bullying was the driving factor behind her daughter's death.
Yoshiko learns the truth through a chance encounter, and contemplates revenge.
