"Torinoko City" is based on the song of the same name by the musician 40mP, who has released numerous cover versions in Japan since 2010. The ambiguous lyrics finally inspired the director Hiroki Yamaguchi in 2017 to a space and time travel fantasy, financed with the help of crowdfunding. Yamaguchi was celebrated at the 17th JFFH in 2016 with his wild genre roller coaster "Bloody Chainsaw Girl". Now he returns with the emotionally loaded coming-of-age drama "Torinoko City". The soundtrack was, of course, composed by 40mP himself.
